Cone beam computer tomography is a medical imaging technique consisting of x-ray computed tomography where the x-rays form a cone. This has become increasingly important in treatment planning and diagnosis in implant dentistry, interventional radiology and endodontics. This is also a critical tool in guided implant surgery. The AAOMR suggests that CBCT is the preferred method for pre-surgical assessment of dental implant sites.
